The transition of the practice website to the new owner is one of the most neglected tasks that we encounter after practice sales.  New owners are often overwhelmed by all the other aspects of dental practice ownership that they push out the needed website and Google Business changes for months and months.  Some buyers will dedicate a few hours to make sure that they are added to the website with a picture and a bio.  This is a good start, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.  The previous doctor’s name needs to be removed from all business listing sites across the internet.  This has to be done strategically so that your new website doesn’t lose authority and potential new patients. 

Some sellers have great websites with strong traffic coming from Google and other sources.  We strongly suggest you maintain the advantages the existing site has while we make recommendations for improvements. Many sellers don’t have great websites and have a poor presence on Google and the other search engines.  In this case, we will encourage you to work with us to design a new website that captures new patients better and receives more traffic over time.

New Website Development:  For those that want or need a brand new website we have templates for you to choose from or we can build you a custom site.  We can also help with the website content, which has to be original.  Copying and pasting from other sites is strongly discouraged because Google “flags” duplicate material and penalizes the duplicator by lowering the website’s Page Rank.
  1. Website Conversion:  The seller has a terrific website.  That’s great! Let’s make as few changes as possible and make sure that we get the practice name changed and add your information to the website.  We will provide you with a website analysis to show you the strengths and weaknesses of your current site and make recommendations for remodeling your website.

Business Directory Listings: There are hundreds of online business directories such as Google Maps, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Local, etc. that provide information about your business.  We sync all of these directories to ensure that your business information is consistent throughout the web.  Why is this important?  When Google sees conflicting information about an address or a business owner they penalize the site and it won’t be displayed as often as competitors.  The discrepancies can be as small as one site listing shows your address as “2325 South Main St” and another shows “2325 S. Main Street.”

Google Maps and Google My Business:  This is one of the most important listings that must be set up and maintained.  This is how patients find you when they type “dentist near me.”  If your office hasn’t claimed your Google My Business Listing then you won’t show up on these searches.  Furthermore, Google rewards businesses that complete their Google My Business profile and continually post new special offers, events and updates.  Your profile should be updated at least once a month.

Search Engine Optimization:  This is where things get exciting, and, a bit more complicated.  If your current website is on page 2 or 3 of Google Search for relevant search terms, we have many tools to get the ranking and traffic you desire.  Some markets are less competitive and thus much easier to improve.  Other locations are incredibly competitive and take a longer-term approach.  Because of the location-specific nature of Google ranking, we have to bid  each dental location web campaign independently.
  1. Google Reviews: This is the second most important advertising tool you can leverage.  Google Reviews are becoming the leading source for new patients.  BDBC has created our own Google Review Generator (from real patients) that will help boost your reviews.
